Background: A major international engineering organisation implementing a change programme involving the closure of several plants, rationalisation of shared services and new product implementation. The Board of Directors were engaged across a broad spectrum - some leaving the business, others joining and some moving laterally to new positions.
Support: There was a requirement to raise both awareness and commitment to the human aspects of the change programme. Working Transitions developed a bespoke programme for the ‘Top Team’ to support them to model positive change behaviours and present a united front. The programme included:
One to one coaching sessions with board members
Team workshops including:
- Raising awareness of potential pitfalls
- Agreeing objectives
- Communication strategies including ‘staying on message’
- Forming a team ‘behavioural contract’
- Experiencing key parts of the support programme:
- Leading Teams through Change
- Successful Transitions
- Breaking bad news
Outcomes: The leadership team committed to a formal communication strategy to support their managers to implement the people change strategy. Resource was allocated for the whole organisation to attend Working Transitions ‘Successful Transitions’ programme. The programme is currently ongoing.
