Supporting International Restructure

As a result of our longstanding successful relationship with a major insurer headquartered in the UK, Working Transitions, part of Career Partners International, was selected to provide Outplacement support to a subsidiary company based in Mumbai, India. The organisation was undergoing significant restructuring, with the result that around 200 employees, at all levels, would be displaced. After an extensive evaluation of other global and local providers the organisation selected Working Transitions, Career Partners International, due to their local market knowledge and presence, plus their track record of success in executing similar projects.

BACKGROUND

The impact on job losses was not finally confirmed until two weeks before the service was required, so project planning had to be rapid with resources all in one place to deliver services by the start of the implementation phase. In India Outplacement is not as widely used or well understood as in UK or US marketplaces and so a key requirement was to raise awareness amongst employees and provide tailored information to encourage them to engage with services. In addition, managers at the organisation were inexperienced in managing difficult conversations informing employees about job losses so additional bespoke training was required for them

CAREER SUPPORT PROVIDED

Working Transitions, Career Partners International, provided tailored support for all impacted employees and line managers.

This consisted of:
• Line Manager “Breaking The News” training sessions
• On site awareness briefings about the support service for all employees
• One Day group workshops on CVs, Interview Skills and Job searching
• One to One coaching sessions to support the development of personal action plans
The project was delivered in two phases with 89 impacted employees in phase one and 78 in phase two. There was additional training and support provided for 18 managers.
There was also requirement for robust MI and reporting to enable the organisation to evaluate satisfaction and outcomes. A full project management services was provided to support the local Mumbai team. In addition collated information was provided to the UK HQ teams to enable ROI comparison and consistency with other global programmes
