FAQs

Q

What is outplacement?

A

Put simply, outplacement services provide both practical and emotional support to individuals affected by organisational change - in particular, redundancy. Redundancy and redeployment can be a challenging and emotive time - for the organisation, the team left behind and, most importantly, for affected individuals.

Outplacement services allow individuals to understand and accept the change – and the rollercoaster of emotions that they may experience, fully assess the options available to them and move forward with confidence,  whether that’s to a new role, an alternative career path, retraining or even planning for retirement.

Q

What does outplacement support include?

A

Depending upon the service selected, interventions may include:

  • Individual, tailored career coaching – this could include career planning, the identification of transferable skills, social media presence, planning a job search campaign, company research, application support, interview skills and many other topics to suit individual needs
  • Group learning rooms on a wide range of subjects
  • A robust CV review
  • Full access to the interactive tools and resources within our market-leading career portal 'PowerMyCareerTM'
  • An unrivalled schedule of virtual career workshops
  • Practical e-learning across a range of subjects especially designed for those experiencing career transition

Q

Why should I offer outplacement?

A

Any organisation who values their reputation will be keen to ensure that those affected by career transition are fully supported to move onto a bright and progressive future. However, in today's tough business environment, when forced to make redundancies to cut costs, investing in outplacement support can feel at odds with the organisational objective. Justifying the cost of support can be tough to position with the board when every penny counts. However, the investment is worthwhile - in almost all cases, the additional benefits far surpass the financial outlay and include:

An enhanced "psychological contract" across the organisation
Reinforcing engagement at a difficult time
Retaining key talent
Maintaining productivity and retention – both during and after change
Protecting your reputation and employer brand

Q

What is Working Transitions' approach to outplacement?

A

Our outplacement solutions have been designed to provide maximum flexibility and personalised support – whilst respecting your budget.

Choose from our Monthly Support Programme, offering unlimited support over a fixed period, our Flexible Support Programme which provides a wide choice of service options or Forward Momentum, our cost-effective, online solution.  With 3 distinct service levels in each programme – Advance, Accelerate and Progress - we've made it easy to tailor support to suit individual needs and objectives - and to suit your organisation's budget.

Our team can talk you through costs and help to design a service that delivers the best results for you and your people.

Q

How does Covid-19 Impact Outplacement Support?

A

Our focus during the pandemic and its associated restrictions is to continue to support positive long- term outcomes for all of our programme participants, whilst doing our utmost to respect priorities and minimise the short-term health risk.

All of our outplacement and coaching services can be delivered remotely via webinar, telephone, Skype or FaceTime during this challenging time. Participants can be assured of the same high standards as our face to face services.

We are conscious that job-hunting during this period represents additional challenges and are continuously amending and improving our service offering to make it as relevant and supportive as possible during this time.  As well as adding additional topics to our virtual learning rooms and career workshops, we have increased communication with our participants to include relevant and topical news, articles, insights and recorded webinars from our highly experienced team.

Q

How can I ensure Outplacement Support across all levels?

A

Our programmes are designed to offer choice and flexibility and individuals can tailor their programme of support according to their own needs whilst working within a pre-agreed budget.  We recognise that each person's career path is different and so we offer access to a wide range of services to allow individuals to select the support most relevant to their needs and career goals.

If you are considering redundancy of senior executives you may also want to take a look at ARC – our executive outplacement programme

Q

Do I need to refer a minimum number of individuals for Outplacement Support?

A

No, we have no minimum numbers required for support.  We work with many clients who have small, ad-hoc requests for our support.  Whether your requirement is just for one person or many thousands, we can provide an appropriate programme. Irrespective of the numbers involved all your people will receive a personalised introduction and tailored approach to our services.

Q

Can you provide Outplacement support to individuals overseas?

A

Yes - as part of the Career Partners International Network, we can guarantee the same high-quality support, with local knowledge and expertise, wherever your participants are in the world. We have successfully partnered to deliver many projects in USA, EMEA and APAC.

Q

How will I gauge the success of our Outplacement Programme?

A

We'll agree key performance indicators at the outset – and will be in regular contact to let you know how things are going.  Our project managers are proactive and responsive – if something isn't working, we'll let you know, and we'll make suggestions about how to amend the process to get it just right for your organisation.

Feedback and testimonials from programme participants are a valuable measure of success – we'll share these with you during regular review meetings.  Take a look at what previous participants say about the service

Q

How do I start my Outplacement Support Programme?

A

Get in touch with our friendly, experienced team – they can talk you through the options and help you build exactly the right support for your organisation.  There is no obligation to proceed if you feel it's not right for you but we always welcome the opportunity to have a conversation and explore options.

We'll run through a fact find, complete some initial administration and then, if you are happy for us to do so, we can get started – making contact with your participants in the way and timeframe that suits them best.

We know that making redundancies is usually a stressful and challenging time but our dedicated and capable team has all the experience to support you every step of the way.
